The Bible Proves The Earth Is Flat....Or Does it.

A while back I was reading some information on why some people still believe that the earth is actually flat. I stumbled across The Flat Earth Society and began reading something from one of their disciples. It read like this; "The Bible itself proves that the earth is flat by divine revelation to one of its own Prophets....Daniel. Daniel had a dream in which he saw a great tree which touched the sky and could be seen from the ends of the earth. The only way the ends of the earth could see this tree was if the earth were flat".

Well, I guess that proves it doesn't it? Have good night......Let's all go home.

Unfortunately, a rather small detail has been left out of this theory. Namely, the person who actually had the dream......King Nebuchadnezzar! Truth is, it never was Daniel the Prophet that had the dream, it was the King. Daniel the Prophet was called in to "INTERPRET" the dream. Reference Daniel beginning in chapter 4:4. Daniel's interpretation of the dream goes like this; "My lord, if only the dream applied to your enemies; the tree you saw in your dream that grew large and strong with its top touching the sky, for the whole earth to see.......IS YOU O' KING! You are that tree. Your greatness has grown to reach the sky, and your dominion reaches the whole earth". This had NOTHING to do with an actual tree that could be seen from the ends of the earth....come on.

The Bible does however go on to tell us that the "tree"(King Nebuchadnezzar) would be cut down and only the stump would remain until seven times (seven years) had past. What Daniel was saying was that the "King" was going to be removed from power for thinking "HE" was responsible for his rise. In fact it was God that ordained Nebuchadnezzar and rose him to power, and the King's own meglomania sent himself into the field to eat grass like a cow for seven years....to remember a thing or two. Moral of the story....God makes the rules, Not Us!

My guess is a great number of people having read this gentleman's article about the "tree", might have been well swayed by the casual mis-quoting of the "Bible". They might have even joined The Flat Earth Society for all we know. That's the ruse though.

As for me I intend on checking things out for myself, and I hope you do so as well. Maybe checking things out and going a little deeper than you feel comfortable with, will allow you to discover something previously unknown. The Truth.

But then again, I'd bet that if you came up behind the guy that wrote that story with your finger in your shirt like it was a firearm......he'd probably think it was Yosemite Sam anyway. Darn Varmints......
